In Lotus Academic College, we provide a rare opportunity to experience the Buddhist teachings from the land of the Buddha, Nepal. Lotus Academic College at present offers two year master MA in Applied Buddhism. The former is a basic course on Buddhism, intended to be a preparation for entering higher education like PHD in the field of Buddhism. It is a capsule course for time conscious students who wish to acquire knowledge on Buddhism within short time period. Second is a trendy higher course, the first ever launched faculty, projected to meet today's need. It tries to impart knowledge on current trend in the field of Buddhist studies and applying Buddha's teachings in daily life. Both the course are available to a Bachelor-degree-holding students of any faculty.

Lotus Academic College not only serves introductory courses on the basics of Buddhist philosophy, art, iconography and some main aspects of Nepalese Buddhism, but also tries for the application of Buddhist teachings in our daily life. To meet the purpose we are introducing Applied Buddhism for the first time in Nepal. Applied Buddhism is a broad umbrella under which all the essential aspects of life such as physical, mental, social and spiritual wellbeing as well as philosophical, bioethical, financial and modern scientific aspects could be incorporated. This included the Buddhist ideas practiced by the three major schools of Buddhist thoughts in modern era, namely the Theravada, Mahayana and Vajrayana traditions. We aim to give more emphasis on the traditional culture and social aspects of Buddhism.

Lotus Research Centre, the parental organization of the college has decades of experience in the field of research and study of Buddhist art and culture. It has also been developing a digital archive of Nepalese Buddhism with multimedia contents. We would like to use our experience in Lotus Academic College by implementing modern methods of Learning Management System. In the future, we plan to provide distant learning opportunities of higher education in Buddhism to the students worldwide.

I firmly believe that Lac will successfully meet the educational and practical demands of not only the people of Nepal, but also of the world at large. I wish all the students happy learning.

May all beings be happy.

Dharma Sundar Bajracharya
Principal, Lotus Academic College
